Buying a 2nd One

Review Date: July 21, 2010

I bought this unit 7 years ago and absolutely love it....no problems whatsoever. I live in Las Vegas, where it is very hot, and the unit is in my garage. I'm about to purchase a 2nd one for my cabin in Vermont (for the cellar). I usually don't review items, but this seems to have gotten a bad rap somehow, so I wanted to let people know that it's a great product. Love the textured front...goes perfectly in a garage.

This unit has gotten some undeserved bad reviews if my experiences with it are to be considered normal. Needs at least two people to manhandle the wheels into place. The energy consumption is approx 10% higher than comparable units (I found no comparable units).Quality construction. Neat look. When placed right, doors firmly close by gravity alone. Roll around simplicity and it does a great job at the lowest cooler settings in both compartments.
If it is like the refrigerator - it's good

I am doing something I rarely do - "reviewing" an item I do not own. There is only one other review (at this time) and it is from someone who clearly does not own the item, but forgets to mention that part. I could not let his stand as the only one when it also has false information.

Contrary to what the other reviewer states - this does in fact hold the stated 21.0 as promised - 15 in the lower section and 6 more in the top section...at least based on reading the item listing. What it holds in real life I do not know because I don't own one.

I do own a companion piece (the Gladiator GarageWorks Chillerator) and am very happy with the quality of workmanship - if this is built anything like that I know we would love to get it. We are currently in the market for a freezer, and this one is high on the list. I am forced to give it stars - so I give it five based on my experience with the refrigerator.

Just an FYI - When we purchased the Chillerator it was from ABT. There were no problems and everything went as smooth as possible.

A good review would be from someone who actually owns it and can speak to how this item specifically is the same or different from the listing, rather than just explaining the listing itself.

Worked for four years, still under warranty

I bought this in early 2005, and it's worked fine until October 2008. It has a 1 year warranty for most parts, and a 5 year warranty for the sealed system. Fortunately (?), the compressor seized up, and that's part of the sealed system. The warranty repair took two trips (one to diagnose, and an all-day trip to replace the compressor), but it was covered.

The refrigerator part can hold a flat of water bottles easily, but is just a little too shallow to hold 12-packs of Coke in the long dimension. The freezer freezes solidly -- what more could you ask? No frost issues at all. Wheels are optional.

I have had this fridge since summer '09. The fridge and freezer have worked perfectly in summer and in winter. I love it but only gave it a four star rating because the price is high, plus I bought an extended warrenty because so many other people have had trouble with this unit.
